Lunchtimes at Redfield
Toru, our school chef, along with Csaba and Tracey make all of our delicious lunches in our school kitchen. At Redfield all children have school dinners. The teachers, teaching assistants and other staff often join us for dinner too!
This is our current menu
Sharing a nutritious cooked meal together is an important part of our day and children and staff enjoy this opportunity. All meals are cooked on site with fresh ingredients, sourced locally where possible. Children have two courses - a main and a dessert and can choose between a meat option (halal or non-halal), vegetarian option or a jacket potato and filling. The dessert choice is either the main pudding, yoghurt or fresh fruit. All diets are catered for and Toru will meet with any parents whose child has a specific diet to discuss the options.
Years Reception, 1 & 2 have these meals free. Older year groups are charged at £1.40 a meal - this is part subsidised by the school as we feel that this is of such benefit to the children.
Playground activities - some examples
We love lunchtimes at Redfield ET. After our delicious lunch, our lunch staff organise two fun, supported activities every lunchtime such as football, chalking and bowling. We have introduced loose parts for the children to play with each day and we also love to be imaginative, making up our own games with our friends.
Monday: Loose parts, football and bean bag throwing.
Tuesday: Loose parts, Obstacle course, chalks and bubbles.
Wednesday: Loose parts, basket ball, bowling.
Thursday: Loose parts, bowling and skipping.
Friday: Loose parts, football and musical instruments.
