Reception Baseline Assessment information
We believe that children should learn in an engaging, happy, enabling and challenging environment. All of our staff feel passionate about allowing our children to have space and time to explore their own interests and fascinations, and we play alongside them to observe, scaffold and teach in the moment. Please have a look at our Tapestry Workshop powerpoint to familiarise yourself with our online journal.
During the children’s transition time to Redfield, we want your children’s experience of school to be full of nurture and excitement for learning.
In Reception, we follow the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum using Birth to Five Matters to support our teaching and monitoring. Also, to support the children with their learning skills, their friends and wellbeing we use the Characteristics of Effective Learning, which helps us to have a more holistic picture of the children. You can look at the Early Years Framework below.

Year 6 is a really exciting year where we have the chance to draw together and extend all of the children’s learning from primary school in preparation for their transition to secondary school.
Although we work really hard there are still lots of opportunities to have fun.
< lessOur Eco-Team have teamed up with staff to plant saplings around the school, starting today with the area outside out front door. The trees are donated by the Trees for Schools Programme.
There will be 20 trees in all – see if you can spot them all, as they go in!
The Eco-Team is made up of children and staff who have volunteered themselves for the role and who have a real passion for all things eco. We have set up the team as we would like to help make our school and our planet a more eco-friendly and sustainable place. We are hoping that the work we do will help and benefit the environment and will also help us to achieve Eco-Schools status and the Green Flag Award.
We meet to discuss and plan events to support our school to become as environmentally friendly as possible.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic the Student Council has not been meeting. However, we look forward to resuming our usual business soon!
In 2019/2020 the council were busy: they submitted a letter to Michelle to request an additional water fountain, started a poster campaign in quiet areas to find out what pupils want for break times and were working on a few other projects. We hope to be able to update you on progress soon.
